Disclaimer: VoiceMeeter is a 3rd party external tool which we have no control over and is an advanced setup. There is a possibility where you can change settings that cannot be changed back, use at your own discretion.
This guide allows you to stream video on Kast and voice chat with friends on Discord without creating audio feedback for those who are both voice chatting and watching your stream at the same time.
1. Download and install VoiceMeeter Banana (restart your computer when it prompts you). https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/banana.htm (EXE file)
2. Open the Sound control panel.
3. Set VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO as the Default Device under Playback.
(Note down what your original default playback device is as this will be used later. For example, here it was 2- C-Media USB Audio Device).
4. In VoiceMeeter Banana:
Deselect all options so that your VoiceMeeter Banana looks like this:
Set your microphone to the one you normally use. If you are not sure, go to the Recording tab in your Sound control panel and select the Default Device chosen.
(WDM is recommended, if there is lag or stuttering change to MME).
Under Hardware Out, click on A1 and set it to your original Speakers / Playback device.
In Virtual Inputs:
a. Under Voicemeeter VAIO, click A1. This routes the audio from the Virtual Input to the Speakers you set in the previous step.
b. Under Voicemeeter AUX, click A1. This routes the audio through Discord.
Open Discord, click on the Cog button in the bottom right and go to your Voice and Video Settings.
Set your Input Device to your Default Microphone.
Set your Output Device VoiceMeeter Aux Input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter AUX VAIO). Setting the Output Device to the non-Aux Input creates audio feedback for those who are voice chatting and watching you stream on Kast.
5. In Kast:
Click the Kast button to start streaming.
Locate and click on the cog icon to access your audio settings. For input, select Computer’s Audio. For Output, select VoiceMeeter Input (VB-Audio VoiceMeeter VAIO).
Hit save. (note: If you are in a party with multiple streamers, make sure to mute the audio coming from their stream. This prevents audio feedback and echo.)
6. You’re done, happy kasting!
